So I'm flipping through the channels and I catch the last part of Shawshank Redemption.
I should send a copy of that movie to a good friend I haven't seen in awhile...

So I closed at the mall saturday night and after Mike totally sandbags Carrie...I get a phone call.
"Chrisy, you need to turn around! Little black kitten and he's hurt and you need to come get him or he'll die!"
OK, I may have summed up a 5 minute conversation that we had about the adorible Tuxedo currently residing in my bathroom (he's not a big fan of Chester or Roccie). Here's a photo for all the haters:

So my phone is missing. I've deactivated it until mom brings my back up. email cdehos@gmail.com to get a hold of me. Or well call Andy's phone if you have it.

It's been raining like crazy and we went to the VW show out at the Rose Garden and got SOAKED. On the way home, there was a good 4-6" of water running of the hills across the road for 30 feet then off the embankment into the creek. I would have taken pictures but Andy has the camera at the shop for his cars (rolly eyes).

The kitties are good, the apartment is good...work is even good. Grumpy Tracy quit for a management job in food service. I don't see that working out so well with her every 15 min. smoke break pattern and the coming in over an hour late on a regular basis. I wish her well anyways. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be working at my present job. I don't see myself within the staffing industry forever. We'll see if they offer anything at my 1 year review in September.

Tata for now.

So I hate taxes. I always seem to end up owing the state half of what I get back in Federal. Not this year....this year I owe DOUBLE what I'm getting back Federally. Honestly, how can I go from getting over $800 last year to only $120 and owing the state $257?

Pissed.

I'm here at the laundromat washing the clothes and the like and using their wifi, and I'm thinking I'd like to OWN a laundromat. I've actually had this idea for awhile now actually. It started in Vermont the last winter that Andy and I went to see my brother in Killington. I'm too lazy to see if I wrote about it in here already but the laundromat that my brother used was also a bar, yes you read me right. A Bar. Pool table, stage for indie performers, chicken wings, fries and jalapeno poppers - beer, shots and mixed drinks. BRILLIANT IDEA. Of course the bars close at 2 out there but the laundromat was 24-hours. They even had couches and computers for people to use. I think something like this would work so well in Fredonia. Now, you ask...what about people under the age of 21 that need to wash their clothes? The Rub a Dub Pub had this figured out in Vermont. The bar was upstairs and the laundromat was downstairs. And you thought I'd be going to jail for serving minors. So I guess that covers it. I want to own a Bar-omat.

It's freezing here in East Aurora. Colden is even colder. HAHA. get it? COLDen? Yeah I know. 14 degrees without the wind chill, almost double digits below 0 with the wind chill. Andy's stopped looking for jobs. It's pointless. The job market is crap. My company let 40 people go Thursday, they stated it was "housecleaning" for those with "poor performance." Apparently that means half of our IT department was worthless. At least the 3 IT people I like are still there. But you're wondering how are Andy and I living seeing as he hasn't gotten an unemployment check in oh....since he filed on the 2nd. Plus, his last pay check was over a month ago. We're fucking poor. I bought groceries thinking only of how long they could last... nevermind nutritional value. It's like college all over again. Lots of pasta, salads, stuff made in the crock-pot. We're eating, and gaining some weight from the carbs but the season allows for that I think. He's going back to school full time this semester down in Alfred. He'll be driving the hour and a half each way the first semester to see how it works out. 3 semesters and he'll have his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Maybe in that year and a half Obama can do something about the job situation.

Oh. Pre-St. Pat's at my place March 14th. Text me an RSVP. It starts at noon and has to end around 8. My downstairs neighbors are both in their 50's and my neighbors to the side are a single mom and her 5 year old son. It'll be a PG-13 party. ;)
Please carpool as well as parking is limited.

Into the previously mentioned apartment. YAY!
ANd now we're kicking ourselves in the butt because Andy got laid off from work and I'm working two jobs (hopefully a 3rd is in the works if Border's calls me back). SO this is all for now. But if you have my number text me so we can chill sometime.

Ode
Ode to an apartment I fell in love with, but probably will never live in because Andy is on the fence about moving.

*****
This, it haunts.
All baseboards and window sills,
Creaking cracks and rattling panes,
Ethereal concertos manipulating delicate draperies.
Slivers embedded.
Craving the taste of time,
An infinite jest towards dignity and semiotics,
Giving definition to notions of combination.
Generational redemption.
Dissolved centuries of mistakes in the remaining textiles,
Covered in rococo distraction as a courtier,
Surreal achievement left alone behind the pine doors.

She sits squarely; assessing her lot, her hedgerow. Does she despair in her unavoidable division? Few secrets remain for her to share, utterly empty on the inside, her framework is barely insulated. Light has not left her reflective eyes. They echo her interior clearly, yet scarcely leave any passers-by from her gaze. Never tired of being right, she remains steadfast, a walk away from the turbulence of the world envelope. Contented as the last mistress in queue.
*****

I was going to post a picture of the outside of the apartment, but my phone won't send it. weird.

I am so sorry about my disappearance.
I've been really bummed about my stupid hand being all screwed up. I've had to give up knitting and typing really hurts. I'd love to scrap book the pictures I've been taking but I can't hold scissors. It's a list of misery so I'll try not to drag anyone down.

On the positive side of things, I started my new job and I love it. Well mostly, actually. There are a few things that are a big step away from working at the hospital; namely the fact that he entire floor where I work is a cube farm and it's DEAD SILENT 90% of the day. Seriously, all I hear is keyboards clicking and the corporate job recruiters (in the cubes behind my back) making phone calls to possible candidates. I'm one of only 3 people in my department, not including my 2 supervisors and the VP of National Accounts. There's Danielle who is 25, graduated from Brockport with a degree in something useless like my English Degree, she works part time at Express just for the discount, drives a Honda Civic, and is just as crappy with money as I am. Then there's Tracy. I'm currently sitting in her cube which only has 3 sides (there's no back wall, she's out on maternity leave, she already has one son who graduated kindergarten last year and she just had her 2nd, her cube is devoid of all personalization and she was the only person entering all the National Accounts information until Danielle started back in May. My bosses are pretty cool. There's Gary, typical yuppie from the north towns. Has a wife and one kid who started kindergarten this year. His wife must be a beached blond by the phone calls I overhear (It's impossible not to!), and he takes a passive approach to everything. He kinda reminds me of Steve Carrell's character on The Office. Then there's Justine. She's been with the company 15 years and co manages my department with Gary but oddly NEVER has any idea what's going on. She's super nice and I think she's the one who decided to hire me. She had a laid back but get things done attitude and always smiles and says hello. There's this guy Danielle knows upstairs, he's a programmer of IT, who is going to be Quail Man for Halloween and want's me to be Patty Mayonnaise. HILARIOUS. I really don't have any real friends at work yet. Danielle and I talk all the time but that will probably change when Tracy comes back on the 29th. My cube is next to Tracy's at the end of the row so she'll be between me and Danielle. My cube is different from both Tracy's and Danielle's, too. Danielle and Tracy's cube walls are only about shoulder eight if you sand next to them. This means when you're siting in them you can barely see the top of the person's head next to you. But my cube, "The Fortress of Solitude," has walls that are taller than me when I'm standing and there's actually 4 of them. I said before that Tracy's cube is only 3-sided. This means that she aces a wall that dividers her from the other side of cube and has one on her left and right but behind her is open. My cube has a full left wall, a full wall that I face, a slightly shorter in length wall dividing me from Tracy and a full wall behind me. You get into my cube where the wall next to Tracy is short, it makes a doorway. Pretty pimp, but everyone can ignore me in there because you can't see me. This is both good and bad for obvious reasons.
For now this job will do. I'm working Mon. to Fri. 8AM - 5PM. I get up at 5AM so I'm still a party pooper. But if anyone wants to do anything between 7PM and 10PM I AM SO IN!! Text my phone...I'm still on prepay.

I know I haven't updated in a month. There's a good reason. Since May I've had tenosynovitis in my hand which limits movement in the fingers of my right hand. It results in the swelling of the tendons (like tendonitis) and the synovious, which surrounds and protects the tendon's movements. This means that every time I move my fingers the tendon's movements are constricted by the swelling of the synovious and causes friction and additional swelling. Needless to say, typing is god awful.
On a positive note, I've been really busy with work and interviews for different jobs. I accepted a position at Superior Group in Williamsville. Their website could probably give you a better understanding of their business. My title will be "Corporate Accounts Manager" and I'll take care of the new hires for HSBC, making sure their paperwork is all in a row, as well as managing a geographic area of the company's field offices. Pay is $1.25 more an hour than I am making at ECMC, and the same full benefits after my first 30 days. Obviously the drive is further so Andy and I are looking into moving.
I know i've been off the grid for awhile, but I'll be at Mohawk Place Friday night for the Karma Police show. You should come out and celebrate my new employment!!

So I have decided to start a webby store here on LJ and I need a pimptacular logo.
So put on those photoshopping pants and start a chopping.
Name of the new Web/Journal/Boutique:

Like a merry-go-round...but obviously more clothing accessory related. :)
My Motto:

I'm thinking something fashionista, earth friendly, and cute.
Yup... blank slate here.
Hells, I'll even give ya a few buck for your time.

So I decided it was time for another one of my famous mixes.
I was thinking about a theme for a week or so now, and I've settled on an Anthology piece.
Normally, one would suspect an anthology to be a life's work but I'm taking a more avant approach, mine's only a day.

Here's my 24 Hr. Anthology:

Wake Up: 1. I Don't Like It Like This - The Radio Dept.
Drive To Work: 2. London Calling - The Clash
8 Hours of Trauma: 3. The First of The Gang To Die - Morrissey
The Drive Home: 4. Concerto in G - Antonio Vivaldi
Opening Mail: 5. Shady Business - The Audition
Phone Call From Andy: 6. Song For The Road - David Ford/ 7. I've Been Loving You Too Long - Otis Redding
Fussing Around On The Internet: 8. Electric Barbarella - Duran Duran
Worrying Instead of Sleeping: 9. Time Is A Line - Joe Henry
True Sleep: 10. Gone - M83

I've got a pimp cover in the works, but I ran out of glue stick. Keep posted for it!!
And hey, if you're bored....I'd love to hear your day too.

Vermont was wonderful as always. ANdy and I did not want to return home and debated using our survival skills to postpone ever returning. Yes, we'd be grizzly and dirty and homeless but whatever. The trip made it even more difficult to go back to work. I've realized how callused working in the Trauma Unit has made me. We had a suicide attempt come in before I left on vacation, and I laughed thinking how mad they're going to be when they wake up and see they didn't successfully make it.
I need a brake from all the stress of my numerous (and weighty) bills, and life. Why not live in a 400 square foot cabin in the woods and live off the land?
Modern society doesn't embrace my ideals yet.
Boo Hiss.

Sloan is playing saturday night.... I believe if I have the money that I will go before work.

I also have about 100 pieces of jewelry I need to sell online. Is it worth it to list on livejournal? Would Craig's List be better? I don't think Ebay will be worth my while.
I'm looking for 50 cents an item.

I'm leaving in the morning for Vermont to see my brother graduate from Green Mountain College. It's encouraging to know that some people can graduate on time. (ahem to myself). I feel like I should be honoring him with all my learned pearls of wisdom, and all I've got is "stay out of mom's way, she's psyco," "don't park in the driveway because I leave for work at 9.30 pm and I'll run into your car if you don't move it," and "DON'T MOVE BACK HOME."
It's hard to give advice on the real world while I'm prolonging the enevitable.
O wells.
I'll be back sunday night if anyone wants to get together for drinks.

I've been trying to ride my bike more often when I get home to tire me out. Today I discovered I have no back brakes on the mountain bike and the front's grab too quickly to prove useful on a hill. The old Huffy sucks at just about everything and doesn't shift anymore. It's mostly my fault for not having storage for either of them during the winter. They've gotten pretty rusty. If anyone knows how to change brake cables on an 1980's mountain boke please let me know! (I don't even know where to purchase cables...)
I leave Thursday with Andy for Vermont. My brother is graduating from college on Saturday. Last week I up and decided that I should investigate jobs out that direction seeing as everything here sucks. I found 4 really great jobs up in Burlington, a couple in a smaller city up in the corner of VT by Canada and New Hampshire, and then one at Stowe Mountain as an HR rep. I really hope I atleast get a phone interview at one of them. I believe Andy is interested in going with me. We've discussed getting a house or something out here but what's the point when we both hate our jobs? I found a few jobs he qualifies for on Craig's list. Those Vermonter's certainly use the grass roots way of job advertising.
Well, I'm getting a little pudgy in the butt, and I'm god-awful looking in a bathing suit.
I should really fix my bike.
